Theme Project

In response to the international presidential theme emphasizing “Intergenerational” service, the “Friendship & Care in Hong Kong” project—led by the Leo Club of Hong Kong Central and strongly supported by the sister Lions—was successfully held on July 28 and 29! This joint initiative beautifully showcased the power of Lions and Leos working hand-in-hand to serve the community.

On the first day, our sister Lions joined school principals at the welcoming ceremony to guide parents of newly arrived students through the Hong Kong education system, offering valuable support during a warm tea gathering. On the second day, Leos and Lions took action together by visiting solitary elderly residents and touring a community living room. This meaningful project not only brought care to new arrival families and senior citizens but also perfectly blended youth leadership with the rich experience of senior Lions.

We co-organised with Chong Lap (H.K.) Co Ltd, the 4th round food distribution event was held at Tin Shui Community Centre, Tin Shui Estate for the elderly.

The 2022/2023 Annual Theme Project – the reading competition gradually progressed to a feverish stage.  In March, district competitions were held at the New Territories West and Tuen Mun Station, and the winners were selected to enter the finals.

Home Affairs Department and LCI District 303 (Hong Kong & Macao, China) co-organized an activity for youth and physically handicapped persons.  More than 400 primary and secondary school students together with physically handicapped persons participated in the “Lion Jumping Rope” and set an SDG world record at Wan Chai Temporary Promenade. We also advocate the collaboration between the Government and the general public on creating an accessible environment so as to achieve our goal of making “Equal Contributions for an Inclusive Society”.

Lions Club of Central has been awarded the “Caring Organisation” again under the “Caring Organisation Scheme 2023/24”. This is the fifteenth consecutive year that Lions Club of Central has received the Award and awarded a “15 Years Plus Caring Organisation” logo by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS).  The “Caring Organization Scheme” developed by HKCSS aims to build a cohesive society by inspiring corporate social responsibility through caring for the community, employees and the environment.
